The outer surfaces of the sensor bar’s light pipe are painted to reduce keycap backlighting from interfering with the function of the ambient light sensor. For Contemporary style buttons, the light sensor bar shipped with each Contemporary device should be used and is optimized for use with Contemporary buttons and faceplates. No additional light sensor bar is shipped with Contemporary engraved buttons.
